Why we stamp what we sign

A stamped structural drawing carries a registered engineer's name, their registration number, and — quietly — their liability. It is a promise that the person who signed has checked the work and stands behind it.

So we do not stamp what we have not done ourselves, and we do not sign for another firm's numbers to save them a fee. It sounds obvious. It is not always the practice, which is exactly why it is worth saying.
