Accredited, and why it is not just a word

Once a year an assessor from JANAAC spends two days on our floor. They do not read our brochure; they stand at the bench and watch a method run, pull calibration records for the balance and the incubator, and question an analyst until they are satisfied the person understands why each step is there.
A test only stays in scope if it survives that. It is the reason an accredited result carries weight a nice-looking report does not.
